Our History

Our History - HernisAfter years of experience in the Norwegian oil industry, 4 men from Tvedestrand in 1982 decided to go all out and established their own business. Their fresh-blown idea was to develop weather and explosion proof camera enclosures in stainless steel suitable for Closed Circuit TeleVision (CCTV) systems in the harsh marine environment.

Their initial plan involved subsea camera enclosures for great depths, but with a fast growing demand for their EX and hardy equipment for marine and offshore installations this soon became their key business.

Today HERNIS must be considered a world leading CCTV partner for the shipping and petroleum industries, employing more than 140 people in 4 countries and enjoying a network of more than 50 agents around the world. State of the art EX equipment still remains a key area for HERNIS, now as a part of comprehensive CCTV packages.

The turnover in 2008 was 230 million NOK. The company is now 100 % owned by Vislink plc, listed at London Stock Exchange.
